Recover Deleted Files from Any Media

Most often we share our USB drives with others to transfer data. One such incident took place with me and I accidentally deleted some important files (I didn’t know they were important to him) off his USB drive.

After 30 minutes of Googling and trying out various recovery free and shareware trial applications, I found the perfect tool to recover files from any kind of media.

DiskDigger is a free tool that can recover files from any media that has been connected to your computer. This includes all your drives, USB drives and memory cards. It goes through scanning each sector of your media for traces of files.

It can recover full or even recover fragments of some files, like partially overwritten photos or other images. It is completely safe to use, as it does not save or modify any files on your drives.

For now, DiskDigger is restricted to some file formats and configurations, but new ones will be added soon. This application can be carried on any portable media as it is just an executable without any installation needed.

How to Run Live Android on PC

Instead of testing Live Android on a VMware, Virtual Box or any other virtualization application, I burned the liveCD ISO and boot up my PC from it.

How to Run Live Android on PC

Follow the steps below to run Live Android on your PC.

1. First of all, you have to download the ISO file of Live Android. You can download it from the official torrent or use direct links from here: Part 1 - Part 2 (Size: 174MB)
2. Since the ISO file has been split up, you will have to join them back using HJ SPlit.
3. Now burn the ISO file with a disc burning application like Nero, PowerISO etc.
4. After burning the disc, reboot your computer (make sure CD-ROM is at the first boot order) and see how Android starts! :)

Important Keyboard Shortcuts for Live Android

These keyboard shortcuts and keys might come in handy when trying out Live Android on your PC.

Esc - To go back.
Application key - For more options.
Alt + F1 - For console
Alt + F5 - For GUI
Ctrl + Alt + Del - Press this twice to reboot your system.

Google Chrome OS: It’s Official!

A major bomb was dropped on Microsoft when Google today announced that they are working on an operating system called, Google Chrome OS.

Rumours about a Google OS have been circulating the Internet for quite a while now, but were never confirmed or made officil before. Microsoft was going to announce something big today, but before they did, Google announced Chrome OS earlier today.

Google OS news has spread like wild fire all over the Internet. I remember the hype that was created in just two days, before launching Google Chrome, the open-source browser by Google. Based on that web-browser, Chrome, Gooogle is now working on an entire Operating System for people who live on the web!

The official blog post about Google OS says,

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010…

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.

All this points to a direct threat to Microsoft, Apple and even Linux by Google for an OS war! Google has always been known for using cutting-edge web-technologies in their web apps, and that same will be seen in the OS whicvh will let you on the web in just seconds!

Google OS is mainly targeted towards netbook users and will most probably have Google Docs, Gmail and other online Google apps as their desktop
offline versions. There are several questions that are yet to be answered by Gogole, i.e Will Google OS run Windows, Mac apps? What hardware will it support? Etc.

The best part about this Google project is that it will be completely FREE, and will not be like Android. This is a separate project, where like Chrome, Google is building everything from scratch!

Now this is something we will keep a lookout for, because an OS announcement by Google is just the beginning of a long chapter! Only time will tell if Google OS bashes or gets bashed by the other OS out there.

Download Manager for MediaFire File Hosting

When it comes to free file hosting, MediaFire is my favourite host due to several reasons. First, it has no file download limits. And best of all, we can download multiple files using download managers,

The most popular file host, Rapidshare, doesn’t offer all this for free so that gives MediaFire a plus point. Even though you can use any of your favourite download managers, but here’s one I found that might be inetersting to you all.

jdownloader

JDownloader is a free download manager, designed for free file hosts like MediaFire, RapidShare, MegaUpload etc to download files off these free file hosts quickly and in parellel. It also supports captcha recognition, automatical file extraction and much more.

Using JDownloader is very easy. Just add your MediaFire links from the ‘Add URL” menu and it will automatically start downloading your files with multiple connections. And guess what? YouTube fans can also download YouTube videos and Mp3 files with JDownloader.

JDownloader comes for all platforms i.e Windows, Linux, Mac.
